Dave's priorities

As a community independent, I put the community at the heart of my politics. Not left, not right, but what’s important to you. The priorities below are shaped by my own experience and values and by the conversations I’m having across Croydon, not by a party line or vested interests.

I’ll always seek the community’s views, look for common ground and approach issues with an open mind. We're not all going to agree on everything, but when we don’t, you’ll know where I stand and why. Some of what I say may be challenging, even for me, but it comes from a genuine commitment to improving life for everyone in our community.

Housing Affordability

With so much public money going into new homes, we need to make sure they meet the community’s needs, not just developers’ profit margins. I’ll push for planning reform that delivers affordability and local need, a more diverse mix of housing for smaller households and downsizers, and smarter use of the homes we already have.

More to come.

Cost of Living

With families relying on food relief while supermarkets make record profits, we need to act on the cost pressures households face. I’ll push for measures to cut food waste and bring grocery prices down, a review of how we manage inflation, and responsible planning of major projects so they don’t push costs up further.

More to come.

As a public servant, integrity is what I do every day, and I believe our parliament should hold itself to the same standard. I’ll push for genuine reform of the rules around political donations and election funding, a truth in political advertising law so voters aren’t misled, and real transparency in ministerial decisions and senior public sector appointments, so government in Victoria serves the community it’s meant to represent, not the people running it.

Environment

Croydon electorate's natural environment is one of the things that makes our community a great place to live. We need to protect the trees, waterways and native habitat we already have, restore what's been degraded, and give local wildlife more room to live and move through our suburbs, through practical, community-focused initiatives that build on existing work, and direct government support where it will make the greatest difference.

More to come.
